June 2019 News

June 2019 was a huge month for New Era. Tons of new faces, competitions, and packed mats. I’m sure everybody is ready to get their summer vacations started but New Era has shown day after day that it is the hot-spot! July/August/September will also be super busy and we cannot wait!

JUNE 22: Redneck Rumble in Kemptville, ON was pure carnage! New Erahad 5 fighters on the card and we stole the entire show. Congrats to Ramzan, Natalie, Dylan, Marcel & Boomer!

JUNE 29: MasterMind Jiu-Jitsu Cup took place in Hawkesbury, ON. New Erahad multiple competitors and we took home some medals as always!

JULY 6: New Era newcomer Abdullah looks to claim the victory in his first ever Muay Thai fight (all the way in Bermuda). Abdullah is a wrestling phenom and is going to be an MMA threat in the 125-pound division one day. Good luck Abdullah. Also that same day, Ray Tucker-Peel is competing in the Ontario Open (No-Gi) as New Era’s lone competitor. Good luck to both athletes!

AUG 10: Stay tuned for more details on our 2nd annual community/student appreciation BBQ! We will be opening our doors in Kanata to all members and community members to check out what awesome things we have to offer. We will also be hosting our 2nd Kids Muay Thai grading earlier that day since our program has grown so much. See you there!

2019 IFMA World Championships

July 20-28 marks the date of Team Canada’s visit to Bangkok, Thailand to compete against the world’s best. On Team Canada, our very own Taylor McClatchie will be looking to bring home gold in a packed 14-women division. Leading the Canadians to victory, is Head Coach & New Era’s Head Instructor, Kru Jeff. Everybody stay tuned in a few weeks to see the world’s best go at it!

Bryan Lomas

Bryan Lomas is the member of the month for June 2019! Bryan has been one of Professor Peter’s most helpful and dedicated students (even before New Era started). Bryan always works with new students, and is super supportive of the New Era team at competitions and on the mats. Bryan helps Peter out no matter what is asked of him, and does it enthusiastically and with a great attitude. Not only is he so supportive of the New Era team, but his BJJ game has progressed immensely under Pete’s watchful eye. Congrats Bryan and keep doing what you are doing!

New Era's 2nd Open House

New Era’s 2nd ever open house will feature Muay Thai/Boxing matches to take your training to the next level! Sign up at the front desk and you will be paired up with someone! Friday, June 26th is the date at our 10 Camelot Drive location. Cost will be the same as last time ($15 for viewers) and will be another potluck/bbq format! Talk to any staff member for more details and stay tuned for potential updates!
